On a rugged stretch of Portugal’s West Coast, Pat and Allie celebrated their destination wedding. Set against the rustic charm of Hortas Do Rio, a boutique hotel brimming with memories for the couple.
Pat and Allie are from the States, but a few years ago, they found this hidden gem in Portugal. Patrick’s proposal was a full-on adventure, involving a three day hike and a secluded beach cave where he popped the question.
Now they were back with their nearest and dearest, ready to say “I do” in the same spot where it all began.

What truly made this wedding stand out were the personal touches that reflected the couple’s unique story.
For a creative touch, the day before the big event, the whole crew took a stroll down to the very beach where Pat proposed. Pat and Allie invited their guests to participate in an activity that was both artistic and sentimental. Each person was given watercolours and encouraged to paint the cave where Patrick had popped the question. These personal works of art were then displayed throughout the hotel on the wedding day and ultimately made the perfect keepsake for the couple.

Allie and Pat chose to incorporate a sand ceremony, a symbolic gesture that held even more meaning because of the location. While out painting the scenery of the beach, the group gathered sand in personalised bottles to use in the ceremony. The significance of the place was woven into every detail, making the moment even more poignant.
One of the most touching moments was the ceremony itself, officiated by Pat’s grandmother. Her presence added a deep sense of family and tradition to the day.

The ceremony was pure gold, and after they sealed the deal with a kiss, we hit the beach, the very spot where their forever began. The photos captured there immortalised their love story against the golden hues of the Algarve sunset. Allie was an absolute vision in her Maggie Sotero wedding gown.

After all that romance, it was time to eat. They went with a family-style dinner that was the definition of comfort. The long table was laden with fresh seafood and wine – all the good stuff. The meal wasn’t just about the food, though; it was about connection. Everyone gathered around the table, laughing, toasting, sharing stories and making memories.
