We drove up from the Algarve, and as we approached the Douro region and the river, we were immediately awestruck with the majestic, wild scenery that unfolded in front of us. It was the most picturesque drive along the coastal road. The rows of vines rose high into the hills above and the river sparkled in the sunshine sprinkled with kayakers and small wooden tour boats.
Carolina and Jeremy were married at the Vintage House Hotel on the Douro River. They loved the idea of an outside wedding along the Rio Douro. While Jeremy’s family was coming from America, Carolina’s is Portuguese. They have both traveled the world and wanted to show all their family and friends the best of Portuguese culture, food and style. They loved the aesthetic of the beautiful hotel, created from old port warehouses over 20 years ago. It’s charming rooms fill with light from the shimmering river below, and it’s serene green riverside gardens were in bloom for the wedding.
The day flew by in a colourful daze of flowers, emotions, toasts and dancing. After dinner there was a performance from Dino d’Santiago. The party continued through the night under a full moon…
