Our Summer this year started with a long weekend wedding on Vancouver Island in B.C. Canada! We have been looking forward to this adventure for a whole year, it was an amazing few days hanging out with Ewa and Mike, now newlyweds, and exploring the island around Campbell River.
The weekend festivities kicked off on Thursday evening with drinks by the riverfront at the beach bonfire, toasting marshmallows with close friends and family.
The 1st night…
“Ewa and Mike met in the beginning of 2014, on opposite ends of a swimming pool with their respective friends. What brought them together that fait full day was Mike’s incredibly loud laugh. “Who the heck is that super loud man?” Ewa remarked. Had she only known that laugh would be with her until death do them part.”
Rehearsal, day before wedding…
“Mike popped the question on Easter Weekend of 2016 at a nightclub called Jazz Bistro. Performing that night were Colin Hunter and the Joe Sealy. Ewa and Mike had the best table in the house, but it wasn’t just for the view. Mike had spent months conjuring up an elaborate lie to get Ewa in that exact seat on that exact night. So, the couple arrived early to enjoy dinner before the performance. It was a lovely evening, and despite Ewa noticing Mike “acting a little weird” she did not suspect a thing.
When 9:30pm rolled around, to Ewa’s surprise Mike himself got called up to the stage. Mike got up from his seat, walked up on stage and proceeded to sing one of Ewa’s favourite songs; ‘Sunday Kind of Love’ accompanied by the Joe Sealy Quartet. Afterwards, he thanked Colin for providing him the opportunity to sing for his girlfriend and asked Ewa up on stage with him. He then told her (and the packed jazz club) a story about finding the perfect kind of love, after which he retrieved the ring that had been hidden in the piano and dropped to one knee asking for her hand. Applause soon filled the room and a kiss from the newly engaged couple sealed the deal.”
