“When we got the email from Daniel and Doreen asking us to shoot their wedding in Sintra we were very exited – Sintra is beautiful, and the opportunity to shoot a wedding there was a dream come true. (Our first destination wedding outside of the Algarve!)
On the day of the wedding we first met up with Doreen, her sister and her friend at the Seteais hotel where the girls were getting ready. In contrast to the elaborate setting of the hotel, Doreen chose a simple dress and a pretty floral crown to adorn her head, she looked beautiful. Her bridesmaids wore vintage inspired dresses in teal, and black with white polka dot.
Daniel was getting ready with his groomsman at the Quinta Matalva, a secluded cottage up the Sintra mountain. There, the wedding party was busy decorating the Quinta for the reception. With wonderful attention to detail and a super stylish eye, Daniel’s sister put together the whole design of the wedding. We loved the beautiful rustic and quirky details she made.
As ceremony time approached both parties journeyed on to Quinta Bela Vista, where the venue was a grand clearing in the forest, with hay stack benches, cut out paper hearts that marked the isle way and a dessert and champagne table waiting in a stunning display – it looked wonderful. The ceremony was sweet and emotional, a gathering of about ten people, all family and close friends. The Bela Vista opened up to the view of Sintra and the light that seeped through the trees was magical. I believe there was a bit of magic there.
From the ceremony it was a short drive to the the Adraga beach, a majestic west coast beach in Portugal. There, a very pretty and stylish picnic was set up to enjoy and have time to just kick back with special people. The best time for this is by the ocean. As sunset approached, with its beautiful golden light, we took Daniel and Doreen out for some portraits.
The candle lit reception dinner under the starts at Quinta Matalva was the grand finale.
We had such an amazing time thorough out the day. Daniel and Doreen were so lovely and amazing I don’t think there are words to describe just how grateful we are to have been a part of their incredible day.”
