Months ago, when we were in Ketchikan Alaska there was a little thrift shop tucked away from the main street that often had some pretty quirky stuff. One day we were browsing through and stumbled across a vintage wedding dress. It was one of those “NO WAY…IS THIS A WEDDING DRESS??? $20!!!! WE CAN SO USE THIS FOR A PHOTO SHOOT!” moments, and thats how it came about that on top of all the other luggage I had to “Muji” in a massive wedding dress.
(MUJI is a japanese chain of stores that fits things into very small packaging. There’s one in Lisbon, it’s always exciting to go in and marvel at the innovations!)
The dress of course was supper petite and we had to wait for the right person to wear it. The opportunity came when my friend Christine came for a visit. We went out for a day of shooting and playing dress up! These photos were taken around the town of Monchique up on Foia mountain. The first part of the shoot was an idea for a styled wedding inspiration shoot with a herbal theme. Afterwards as more ideas kept coming we took a walk around the small streets of Monchique, and it turned into a quirky bridal fashion shoot or a “trash the dress” shoot. It continued briefly the fallowing day at the beach.
